Mark Wiebe Wins Inaugural Cap Cana Championship

With a touching ceremony on the 18th hole of the Punta Espada golf course, the North American professional Mark Wiebe was crowned winner of the inaugural PGA TOUR’s Champions Tour "The Cap Cana Championship".  

Mark Wiebe was triumphant with an imposing game of golf where he pressed forward until the final hole, maintaining precision with his driver  and masterfully handling his irons. After three days, Wiebe finished at 14 under, 216 for the tournament. The break down for the three days at Punta Espada saw Wiebe stroke 67, 68, and 67 for a consistent championship.  

Amongst the celebration from the attending public, Ricardo Hazoury formally presented the check of U.S.$300,000 to the champion who was thankful to the Cap Cana team. Visibly moved, Mark Wiebe expressed that "Punta Espada is a great experience.It has been an exciting week. I enjoyed playing on a course with a challenging design, and we played a tournament in the middle of a climate that has changed variably which forced me to stick to my strategy and allowed us to take the Championship ".

Ricardo Hazoury congratulated the winner and expressed his gratitude to the Cap Cana and PGA Champions Tour teams for the successful inauguration of The Cap Cana Championship.

Efren García emphasized the commitment from all involved in coordinating the tournament, as well as the teams in Cap Cana and the PGA Champions Tour.
